Playa del Carmen, Mexico — More than 35,000 people gathered at Plaza 28 de Julio to sing along to the greatest hits of Molotov, the legendary Mexican band, during an unforgettable concert at the Feria del Carmen 2025. The event, part of one of the municipality’s most important artistic, cultural, and religious traditions, drew families, young people, and national and international visitors.
A Night of Iconic Hits
Prior to the performance, Playa del Carmen Mayor Estefanía Mercado emphasized that free events like these not only promote entertainment but also strengthen community bonds and contribute to building environments of peace and coexistence.
“Culture is a human right, not a privilege. Through it, we seek to rebuild the social fabric and encourage citizen participation. This commitment is reflected in the consolidation of a broad and diverse cultural agenda during this fair,” the mayor stated.
For nearly two hours, the crowd enthusiastically sang along to Molotov’s iconic songs, including Gimme tha Power, Frijolero, Voto Latino, Here We Kum, and Hit Me. The concert was preceded by performances from local groups Lili and Los Olvidados del Carmen, who warmed up the audience.
A Celebration of Tradition
The Feria del Carmen, held in honor of the Virgen del Carmen, Patron Saint of Fishermen, combines religious, artistic, and entertainment activities with high-quality free performances. Through these diverse events, the municipal government reaffirms its commitment to strengthening traditions as essential tools for social development, community cohesion, and positioning Playa del Carmen as a tourist destination with a unique cultural identity.
The festivities concluded on July 16 with a maritime procession of the Virgen del Carmen, a mass at Plaza 28 de Julio, and the traditional vaquería dance. The final day also featured cultural and artistic programming at the Teatro del Pueblo y para el Pueblo, located at the fairgrounds on Avenida CTM, along with free amusement rides for families.
