Playa del Carmen, Mexico — More than 300 artists from Quintana Roo are participating in the Feria del Carmen 2025, marking a historic shift in programming under the leadership of Mayor Estefanía Mercado. The event, organized by the Municipal Institute of Culture and Arts of Playa del Carmen, prioritizes local talent, a departure from previous years when opportunities for state performers were limited.

A Platform for Quintana Roo’s Talent

The fairground’s Teatro del Pueblo, located on Avenida CTM, hosted a lineup of local artists on Sunday, including performances by Clown Chacacuá, the children’s group Alebrijes, the University of Quintana Roo’s ballet Pan Ch’ Eel, and the group Orígenes led by maestro Ernesto Ramos. Other acts featured the duet Karla Cruz and Bernardo Nieto, La Voz de Corralejo, comedian Tila María, the Caribe dance academy, and the musical group Fresa y la Sentencia.

Ernesto Santiago Martínez, Director of the Municipal Institute of Culture and Arts, emphasized the significance of the initiative: "We are making the dreams of our artists come true, while families and visitors get to experience and applaud their performances."

The fair’s schedule continues with performances on Monday, July 14, including the Trío Excelencia, Show Artístico by La Sede, Trío Ecos del Mayab, Nani Namu, and the Mariachi Imperial de la Riviera Maya.
