Man Charged After Stabbing Dog in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The Quintana Roo State Attorney General's Office announced that Gabriel "N" has been formally charged for his alleged involvement in a crime against the environment and wildlife after fatally stabbing a dog in the Nicte-Há neighborhood of Playa del Carmen.

Details of the Attack Leading to Charges

According to investigations reported by 24 Horas Quintana Roo, on July 5, Gabriel "N" attacked a dog named "Junior" with a knife, inflicting fatal injuries. Witnesses in the area immediately restrained the suspect and alerted officers from the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security.

During their inspection, authorities found a knife among the suspect's belongings, leading to his arrest and subsequent transfer to the Public Prosecutor's Office. The Attorney General's Office opened an investigation into the incident, which was later escalated to judicial proceedings.

Formal Charges and Preventive Detention

After reviewing the evidence, the court ruled the arrest lawful and formally charged Gabriel "N" for his probable responsibility in crimes against the environment and wildlife. The judge also imposed preventive detention as a precautionary measure while the criminal proceedings continue.
