Cozumel, Mexico — Lupita Aguilar, a native of Cozumel widely recognized in Catholic music as "The Voice of María," will represent Mexico at the Vatican as a finalist for Best Female Voice in Spanish at the Catholic Music Awards. The prestigious event, often referred to as the "Grammys of Catholic Music," will take place on July 27 in Rome.

A Devotional Mission Through Music

Aguilar, who currently resides in Cancún, Quintana Roo, has dedicated her voice to spreading the Catholic faith. She serves at the Santuario de María Desatadora de Nudos (Shrine of Mary Undoer of Knots), where she combines preaching, prayer, and music to convey her devotion. Her artistic vocation began with the album La Voz de María, which also inspired her nickname and mission.

Competing on a Global Stage

Aguilar is the only Mexican female finalist in her category, competing against artists from Spain, Argentina, Chile, and Guatemala. The Catholic Music Awards, organized by the Vatican’s Dicastery for Communications, the Pontifical International Marian Academy, and the Ramón Pané Foundation, aims to highlight musicians who evangelize through creativity and professionalism.

The awards feature 19 categories across four languages: Spanish, English, Portuguese, and Italian. Nominations include Best Album, Best Male and Female Vocalist, Best Marian Song, Best Liturgical Chant, and Best Pop and Rock Song, among others. An international jury evaluated submissions based on technical quality, vocal performance, evangelical content, and artistic creativity.

A Historic Event at the Vatican

The awards ceremony will be held at 7:00 PM local time on July 27 at the Auditorium Conciliazione in Vatican City. The event will be streamed live on the official website, catholicmusicawards.world, with viewers in Quintana Roo tuning in at noon.

Cardinal Óscar Rodríguez Maradiaga will lead the ceremony, which seeks to recognize artists who spread the joy of the Gospel through music worldwide.

Call for Support

Aguilar’s supporters are encouraged to listen to her music on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music and follow her on Instagram (@lupitaaguilar.singer) and Facebook (Lupita Aguilar). Her nomination marks a significant moment for Mexican Catholic music on the global stage.
