Quintana Roo Validates Judicial Election Results

Chetumal, Quintana Roo — The General Council of the Quintana Roo Electoral Institute (Ieqroo) has officially declared the results of the extraordinary election for judicial positions valid. Winning candidates received their certificates, accrediting them as new members of the state’s judiciary.

Judicial Appointments Confirmed

The election filled 117 judicial roles, including nine magistrates for the Superior Court of Justice, three for the Judicial Discipline Tribunal, and 105 judges for First Instance courts specializing in criminal, commercial, family, and civil matters.

Salome Medina Montaño, a councilor of the Ieqroo, urged the newly elected officials to uphold democratic principles and impartiality in their duties. "Your role is not only to apply the law but to do so with the highest standards of legality and constitutional principles," she stated. "Justice must always be independent, impartial, objective, professional, transparent, and efficient, with unwavering respect for human rights."

Gender Parity Achieved

The appointments adhered to gender parity, with 62 positions awarded to women and 55 to men.

  • Omar Yael Landeros Rosado
  • Fabian Azael Gamboa Song
  • Wendy Fabiola Barrera Ucán

  • Teresa de Jesús Villa Velasco
  • Gabriela del Carmen Rodríguez Díaz

For the Judicial Discipline Tribunal, the elected magistrates are:

  • Elizabeth Moreno Rejón
  • Nelsy Trejo Puc
  • Antonio Torres Constantino

Electoral Review and Compliance

The Ieqroo confirmed that none of the winners violated eligibility requirements under Article 38 of the Federal Constitution or corresponding sections of the state constitution. Councilors emphasized the judiciary’s role as a safeguard for legality and fundamental rights, urging accountability and objectivity in its operations.
