Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The Foundation of Parks and Museums of Cozumel (FPMC) celebrated mothers with a special edition of "La Cana al Aire," a long-standing community event that has fostered social gatherings, dance, and family bonding on the island for over three decades.
A Night of Music and Recognition
FPMC Director General Juanita Alonso Marrufo led the evening dedicated to Cozumel’s mothers, acknowledging their vital role in shaping families and strengthening the social fabric. As a token of appreciation, she distributed roses and shared snacks and refreshments with attendees gathered at the flag plaza.
The event also included recognition for pioneering women of the "La Cana al Aire" program, key figures in this community cultural initiative. For more than 30 years, the program has encouraged the revitalization and reclamation of public spaces through live music, dance, and social interaction.
"This program reflects what our Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa promotes through the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo: rebuilding the social fabric with activities that center people, their culture, and their joy," said Juanita Alonso.
Festive Atmosphere with Live Music
The evening was enlivened by the musical group "Saborcito Tropical," whose energetic performance and diverse rhythms had entire families, visitors, and residents dancing. The festive atmosphere enhanced the tourist experience while reinforcing community ties.
"La Cana al Aire" continues to thrive as a vibrant space where culture, inclusion, and love for Cozumel are celebrated month after month.
