A jaguar has been spotted once more in Cancún, this time in the Aloja residential area, located near Arco Norte. Residents managed to capture an image of a young jaguar in close proximity to people. The sighting occurred as a resident was entering the community in their vehicle.
The video shows the jaguar moving through the nearby jungle, briefly glancing at the camera before disappearing. The encounter lasted no longer than 20 seconds, but it was enough to alert the local population.
Just two months ago, another jaguar was seen in the Villas del Mar residential area, which is adjacent to the same jungle that borders the Aloja community. This marks the second time a jaguar has been seen approaching populated areas.
In the previous sighting at Villas del Mar, the jaguar was seen near a home’s backyard and laundry area, indicating its close proximity to residents. In the case of Aloja, the jaguar has been seen in the surrounding area, but has not yet ventured any closer.
Jaguars typically avoid humans, but they may view pets as potential food sources. These animals are generally docile and only attack if they feel threatened.
