Cozumel, Quintana Roo — Under the slogan "Be yourself, without fear and with pride," the official press conference for LGTB+ Diversity Cozumel 2025 was held this morning, where the event's official poster and agenda were presented. The activities will celebrate Pride Month in Cozumel with a vibrant display of inclusivity.

Municipal Commitment to Inclusivity

The municipal administration led by José Luis Chacón Méndez has demonstrated a strong commitment to the island's LGTB+ community, reinforcing support for inclusion, dignity, and love without labels.

During his remarks, Mayor José Luis Chacón reaffirmed the institutional commitment to diversity. In a firm and emotional address, he announced that the Pride march will now be officially included in the municipality’s annual calendar of events, alongside other emblematic celebrations such as Carnival, El Cedral, and the Fishing Tournament.

"In Cozumel, we are proving that there is room for everyone. My commitment is to continue building a municipality where no one is left out or left behind," stated the mayor.

A Legacy of Resilience and Celebration

Gabriel Espinoza, one of the community leaders, reflected on the march’s 18-year history:

"Today, we celebrate 18 years of the LGTB Pride march in Cozumel—years of struggle, resistance, and love. What began with timid yet courageous steps has grown into a symbol of hope for countless people. But today, we also remember those who walked with us in the early years, when visibility was an act of bravery and defiance. We march for those no longer physically with us, whose strength, love, and courage continue to inspire us. We march for those who opened doors that were once closed, who defended the right to love freely and live authentically, even when it meant facing rejection, discrimination, or violence. Every step we take today is for them."

Espinoza added that Cozumel has witnessed 18 years of transformation—fear turning into courage, silence into voice, and invisibility into celebration.

The agenda features a diverse and festive lineup:

  • June 2: A conversation with LGTB+ activists at the Island Museum.
