Cancún, Quintana Roo — Authorities rescued eight women, alleged victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation, during a raid on a bar in Cancún. The operation was conducted by the State Attorney General’s Office in coordination with the National Guard, following a court-issued search warrant.

Details of the Operation

The raid took place at a bar located on Tulum Avenue and Circuito Chaca in Supermanzana 24 of the municipality. Among the rescued women, six were Mexican nationals and two were Cuban. According to initial investigations by the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Human Trafficking and Exploitation of Children and Adolescents, the women were forced into prostitution.

The victims were reportedly required to charge 200 pesos per drink and offer sexual services, for which the detained suspect, identified as Beatriz “N,” allegedly collected 2,000 pesos per transaction, plus an additional 2,000 pesos for allowing the women to leave the establishment.

Coercion and Evidence

Investigations revealed that the women faced punishment if they refused to comply, including being held at the bar beyond their scheduled hours. Authorities seized a cell phone, cash, and condoms from the suspect.

Following the operation, the premises were sealed and placed under the custody of the State Attorney General’s Office. The rescued women were taken to the agency to provide statements, while the detained suspect and evidence were handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The legal status of Beatriz “N” will be determined in accordance with the law.

Authorities continue to investigate the scope of the trafficking network and potential additional victims.
