Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The Playa del Carmen City Theater, under the direction of Eglé López Mendiburu, has unveiled its May cultural programming, inviting the local community to participate in the city’s cultural revival. The lineup features a diverse array of performances, including theater, dance, and musical productions.

A Commitment to Cultural Engagement

López Mendiburu emphasized the importance of both infrastructure maintenance and community involvement in shaping the theater’s offerings. “It is crucial that we, as authorities, ensure proper upkeep of the venue, but equally important is the public’s attendance and feedback on the types of performances they wish to see—whether plays, concerts, or dance shows. Our social media platforms provide full details of our extensive programming,” she stated.

Free and Private Events

The director clarified that all artistic expressions organized by the municipal government, led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado and facilitated through the Playa del Carmen Institute of Culture and the Arts, are free of charge.

Private initiatives featured in the May lineup include:

  • México Mágico, a dance performance by the Le Blanc School on May 17.
  • Carmen, porque somos todas on May 22.
  • This is Me on May 23 and 24.
  • The educational community El Papalote will present the musical theater production La Fábrica de Chocolate on May 30 and 31.
