Cancún, Quintana Roo — A driver under the influence of alcohol fell asleep behind the wheel early this morning, leading his vehicle to veer onto the sidewalk and into nearby brush in the Santa Fe neighborhood. No injuries were reported, though the incident resulted in property damage.
Police Discover Unconscious Driver
Municipal police officers patrolling the area noticed a Honda Civic parked on the sidewalk along Avenida España at Santiago de Compostela. Upon approaching the vehicle, they found the driver unconscious, with the doors open and clear signs of intoxication.
After multiple attempts to wake him, the driver finally stirred, visibly startled by the officers’ presence. Despite his efforts to speak, he could only stammer incoherently. Authorities subsequently called for a tow truck to impound the vehicle and took the driver into custody for legal processing.
Authorities Issue Warning
The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence. Local officials urge residents to avoid alcohol consumption before operating a vehicle to prevent similar occurrences.
