Progreso, Yucatán — In an unexpected development in the case of a foreign woman who disappeared in Chicxulub Puerto, a ride-hailing driver revealed that she was intercepted by police while working, and her vehicle was linked to the investigation.
The driver, identified as Ana, stated that on the day of the disappearance, she transported the son of Linda, the missing woman, who is now the prime suspect in the case and remains in custody as authorities gather evidence against him.
Police Detain Driver for Questioning
Ana reported that on the afternoon of Sunday, April 20, she was stopped by Municipal Police officers, who instructed her to pull over and informed her that her vehicle was part of the investigation. She cooperated fully, providing authorities with all details of the trip she made with the suspect, whom she described as “just another passenger.”
Suspicious Luggage Raises Questions
One detail that drew investigators’ attention was that during the ride, the suspect was carrying three large garbage bags, the contents of which Ana said she did not know. According to her testimony, the bags appeared heavy, and though she offered to help load them into the vehicle, the man refused.
At the time of her detention, the alleged suspect was in one of the police patrol cars. Despite having access to his cellphone, authorities have been unable to unlock it, even using facial recognition technology.
Driver Alleges Intimidation During Interrogation
After nearly five hours of questioning, Ana was approached by a woman not in police uniform but in what appeared to be formal attire. The woman suggested inconsistencies in Ana’s statements, implying she could be implicated as an accomplice.
The remark alarmed Ana, who expressed feeling vulnerable and concerned for her legal safety. “I’m afraid that, in their rush to resolve the case, they might try to make me a scapegoat. I’m just a worker—this could have happened to any ride-hailing driver,” she said.
Ana decided to share her experience publicly to avoid being wrongfully linked to an incident in which, she insists, she was merely providing a transportation service.

The case has drawn significant attention, with authorities continuing their investigation into the disappearance of the foreign woman in Chicxulub. No further details about the suspect’s alleged involvement or the contents of the garbage bags have been disclosed.
