A fire erupted in the early hours of Sunday at the P'sylo Fashion boutique, situated on the Tulum-Boca Paila highway, across from the Vagalume restaurant in Tulum's coastal zone. The incident led to the mobilization of firefighter teams, Civil Protection personnel, and Marine units.
The fire was first reported at 1:30 am by the C2 dispatcher. By 1:35 am, three firefighter units, led by Daniel Martínez, were on their way to the location, supported by an additional tanker. When they arrived at 1:45 am, the fire had already engulfed part of the asbestos sheet roof and a clothing stand. The firefighting efforts involved the use of roughly 2,000 liters of water and three dry chemical powder extinguishers, deployed by Marine units. To prevent the fire from spreading, a padlock was broken in a nearby corridor to access other areas.
The Civil Protection team, under the leadership of Abelardo Cajún Peniche, and Marine units worked in unison with the firefighters. They successfully extinguished the fire by 2:00 am. The units returned to their bases at 2:15 am. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries. However, the fire resulted in substantial material losses, including damage to the boutique's structure and the clothing items. The authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire to prevent similar incidents in this popular tourist area.
