Quintana Roo — Prosecutors have charged 21 people with drug-related crimes following separate court hearings in four municipalities across the state, authorities announced.
The cases involve alleged small-scale drug trafficking in the tourist hubs of Benito Juárez (which includes Cancún), Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, and Tulum.
According to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Small-Scale Drug Trafficking, the defendants face charges including simple possession, possession with intent to supply, and the actual supply of narcotics such as marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine.
Charges in Benito Juárez
Twelve individuals were formally charged in Benito Juárez. Among them are Yahir “N,” charged with supplying marijuana, and Jesús Miguel “N,” charged with possession. Others charged include:
- Javier “N” for simple possession of marijuana and cocaine.
- Jorge Raymundo “N” and Sheila Yadira “N” for possession with intent to supply.
- Miguel Ángel “N” for possession of marijuana.
- Luis Francisco “N” for supplying marijuana and cocaine.
- Adrián Alejandro “N” for possession of both drugs.
- Luis Enrique “N,” Eddi “N,” and Isaac Abel “N” face charges for supplying and possessing marijuana.
- Kevin “N” was charged with simple possession.
Charges in Tulum
In Tulum, Daniel Ángel “N” was charged with supplying narcotics. In a separate case, Francisco Román “N” was formally charged with supplying marijuana.
Charges in Cozumel
On the island of Cozumel, Darwin Alberto “N” was charged with possession with intent to supply marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine. Alejandro “N” and Jesús “N” face charges for possession with intent to supply marijuana and cocaine.
Charges in Playa del Carmen
In Playa del Carmen, three individuals—Martín de Jesús “N,” Ángel Francisco “N,” and Lucía “N”—were charged with simple possession of marijuana. Another suspect, Kevin “N,” faces charges for possession with intent to supply.
The judicial authority determined there was sufficient evidence to formally charge all 21 individuals, and investigations in each case are ongoing.
