Man arrested for assault, baby abduction in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A 20-year-old man was detained by the Solidaridad Municipal Police after allegedly assaulting his partner and forcibly taking their newborn child in the Gonzalo Guerrero neighborhood.

Incident Details

According to authorities, officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security were conducting a routine patrol when they heard a woman screaming for help. The victim identified the suspect, who was holding a one-month-old baby, as her partner and accused him of physically attacking her before taking the infant without her consent.

After securing the child and speaking with both individuals, police arrested the man, identified as Geiler "N," a native of Tabasco. He was transferred to the custody of the State Attorney General's Office to determine his legal status.

Support for the Victim

Members of the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender-Based Violence (GEAVIG) provided emotional support to the mother following the incident. Authorities reiterated the importance of reporting domestic violence to ensure timely protective measures.

The case remains under investigation.
