Cancún, Quintana Roo — A 14-year-old adolescent died Tuesday morning while operating a motorcycle without a safety helmet and accompanied by a companion who survived the crash. The collision occurred on 114th Street at 25th Avenue in the 237th supermanzana.
The accident took place at approximately 9:00 a.m. as the minor was on his way to his school, Cecyte 4. According to witnesses, the motorcycle collided with a red automobile that failed to stop at a stop sign. The impact projected the young man onto the pavement, where he died almost instantly.
Bystanders and private paramedics responded immediately to provide aid, but the minor no longer showed any vital signs. A school prefect recognized the student, and his mother arrived at the scene within minutes. Her arrival resulted in a harrowing scene as she refused to accept what had happened upon seeing her son lying on the asphalt under a white sheet, an event that profoundly moved those present.
The driver of the vehicle also sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital.
Municipal authorities issued a call for reflection, reminding the public that adolescents are not authorized by law to drive motorcycles and expose themselves to fatal risks. They also underscored the importance of using a safety helmet as a basic protective measure.
The young man's body was collected by Forensic Service personnel for transfer to the Medical Forensic Service.
