Progreso, Yucatán — Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena led a working meeting with authorities from the National Port System Administration (Asipona) and the Navy Secretariat to evaluate the status of progress on the Progreso Deep-Water Port project.
During this meeting, it was reported that the project has advanced more than 60%, reflecting the State Government’s commitment to promoting port development and strengthening Yucatán’s strategic infrastructure.
In his remarks, the governor emphasized the importance of maintaining permanent and fluid communication with the sectors involved to ensure proper follow-up on projects considered strategic for the state, such as this Deep-Water Port project.
Furthermore, the chief executive affirmed that inter-institutional coordination is key so that any interest, concern, or proposal related to the construction can be channeled appropriately, allowing progress on time and according to established objectives.
Díaz Mena reported that during his visit to Mexico City, he had the opportunity to meet with the President of Singapore, who expressed interest in the Deep-Water Port, as well as in logistical and energy matters, which could open new investment opportunities for the state.
Finally, he highlighted that constant communication and coordinated work are essential to ensure that strategic projects are realized and generate real benefits for the population.
The Coordinator of Strategic Projects for the State Government, Dafne López Martínez, indicated that these weekly meetings have been key to continuing pending agreements and maintaining close coordination between institutions, with monthly high-level reviews to ensure compliance with objectives.
In turn, the general director of the National Port System Administration (Asipona) Progreso, retired Admiral Jorge Carlos Tobilla Rodríguez, presented a report on the progress of this project, which seeks to increase the port’s logistical and touristic capacity, allowing the arrival of ships with greater draft and volume.
The meeting was also attended by the representative of the Yucatán Government in Mexico City, Víctor José López Martínez; the general director of the Institute for the Construction and Conservation of Public Works in Yucatán, José Isaac González Bernal; and the undersecretary of Economy and Labor, Roger Góngora García.
