Yucatán to Host Americas Archery High Performance Center

Yucatán's new archery high performance center at Inalámbrica Sports Complex

Yucatán, Mexico — The state of Yucatán will host the Americas High Performance Center specialized in archery. This project involves various adaptations at the Inalámbrica Sports Complex and will be executed through a shared budget between the State Government and the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sports (Conade) for the 2026 cycle.

The announcement emerged months ago in the state capital thanks to collaboration between state authorities, the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sports, and World Archery Mexico. The initiative seeks the internationalization of this discipline, installing one of the two centers projected for the country, while the second will be located in Baja California Norte.

Investment and Modernization of the Inalámbrica Sports Complex

Remodeling tasks at the sports unit will formally begin in January. According to operational plans, this infrastructure will benefit hundreds of Yucatecan athletes and athletes from neighboring nations such as Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama, and Belize.

For the consolidation of this elite space, a joint investment of 40 million pesos was allocated. The central objective of the authorities is for the facilities to operate at maximum capacity by February, coinciding with the schedule of international competitions programmed in the region.

International Events and State Selectives for 2026

In this context, the state will host the Indoor World Series 500 from February 13 to 15, 2026. The event will take place at the Yucatán Siglo XXI Convention and Exhibition Center, where the most outstanding archers from the world ranking will participate, marking the ideal framework to inaugurate the improvements at Inalámbrica.

On the other hand, the sports calendar marks the holding of the Copa de Reyes in Tizimín on January 11, 2026. This traditional competition will function as the third selective control to integrate the state delegation. Subsequently, the first official selective will take place from February 27 to March 1.

Likewise, the indoor modality that will be contested at Siglo XXI demands extreme precision from archers. Competitors must hit a target with a central circle of just two centimeters at a distance of 18 meters, performing 10 series of three arrows to determine the winner by score.

Yucatán’s Leadership in the National Archery Olympics

During the past 2025 cycle, Yucatecan archers demonstrated their dominance in the National Olympics held in Tlaxcala. The state delegation obtained the title of National Champions after harvesting a total of 24 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and 12 bronze medals, accumulating 46 total distinctions.

With the creation of this new Americas High Performance Center, the state reinforces its position as a sports powerhouse in the discipline of archery. This new infrastructure will allow local talent to maintain its competitive level for the upcoming editions of the country’s maximum amateur competition.
