Yucatán will close 2025 with excellent results in its cruise industry, registering 19 arrivals in December alone, a month that confirms the destination’s strength among travelers arriving by sea.

With these operations, the state is estimated to have received more than 460,000 passengers during this year, marking sustained growth compared to 2024.

These results reflect the good work of the Government of the Maya Renaissance, headed by Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena, and the Secretariat of Tourism Promotion (SEFOTUR), under the leadership of Darío Flota Ocampo, who have promoted a comprehensive strategy to promote and strengthen the state’s maritime connectivity.

According to operation records, from January 1 to November 30 of this year, 417,037 passengers have arrived on 144 cruises.

During December, the arrival of 19 cruises from the shipping lines Disney Cruise Line, Margaritaville at Sea, and Carnival Cruise Line is expected, which together will bring 49,200 people, reaffirming Yucatán’s strategic position as a key point on routes from various ports in the United States.

The year will close with 153 total arrivals at the Port of Progreso, and for 2026, 173 cruise operations are already projected, with more than 480,000 visitors, representing an estimated growth of 14% and an even more dynamic season for the sector.

This progress is the result of the work of the Government of the Maya Renaissance, which through SEFOTUR has articulated actions that have reinforced Yucatán’s presence in international markets, in addition to maintaining constant communication with shipping lines about the progress of the Port of Progreso modernization project.

This project, key to the future of cruise tourism in Yucatán and the region, continues to spark industry interest for its potential to improve the cruise passenger experience and receive vessels with greater draft.
