Cozumel, Quintana Roo — A young man reported missing by his family has been located, but not under the circumstances they anticipated. Security authorities confirmed he is detained at the Center for Social Reintegration (CERESO) in Cozumel, accused of the crime of rape.
According to family members, the young man was last seen in the Nueva Generación neighborhood, where his father left him before losing contact. Following his absence, they initiated an intensive search and requested support through social media and local agencies.
Today it was confirmed that he had been apprehended by police elements due to a sexual assault accusation. Since it involves a serious crime, he remains interned at the island prison while the case continues its legal course.
Authorities reported that, for the moment, they cannot divulge more details since the investigation remains open. They also urged citizens to allow competent institutions to develop corresponding procedures in accordance with the law.
