Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office announced that Alexis Mora Álvarez, alias “El Mora,” a 24-year-old native of the state, has been sentenced to 37 years and six months in prison for the crime of aggravated homicide against Luis Antonio, a taxi driver who was violently executed in the municipality of Puerto Morelos.
Prosecutor Raciel López Salazar detailed that the events occurred after Alexis Mora, accompanied by three other individuals, intercepted the victim while he was driving his Nissan taxi. The criminal group located him at a gas station in Puerto Morelos and, after finding him, forced him into a white Vento-type vehicle.
“They took him to a dirt road where they brutally beat him. Afterwards, they transported him to a property located along the Cancún-Mérida highway, near the town of Leona Vicario. There, Alexis Mora shot him multiple times in the head with a 9 mm caliber weapon, taking his life,” explained the prosecutor.
The official autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was traumatic brain injury from a firearm projectile. Investigations indicated that the crime was related to drug dealing activities, which was the primary motive for the homicide.
Thanks to evidence presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the work of the Investigation Police, a trial judge issued a guilty sentence against El Mora, who is already serving his sentence within the state penitentiary system.
Prosecutor López Salazar reiterated the Attorney General’s Office’s commitment to combat impunity and guarantee justice for victims.
