Cancún, Mexico — A man was seriously injured after being attacked with a blade by a coworker on Saturday night at a public transport stop in the hotel zone. The victim, identified as Sergio “N”, 31, was waiting for public transport at kilometer 4.5 with another coworker when he was confronted by Domingo “N”, 35.
The assailant accused Sergio of a theft that had occurred months prior and proceeded to stab him twice in the thorax. Following the assault, the attacker attempted to flee by hailing a taxi but was immediately apprehended by Tourist Police.
Sergio was transported to a hospital where he remains in serious condition, having sustained two penetrating wounds and a broken rib. According to the victim's testimony, this was not the first physical attack by his aggressor, who had allegedly assaulted him on two previous occasions. Sergio has announced he will now file a formal complaint for attempted murder.
