The city mayor, Estefanía Mercado, has been overseeing a security operation in the vicinity of Fifth Avenue. This operation has been put in place to ensure the safety and peace of mind for both residents and visitors during the holiday season.
Mayor Mercado was joined by the Municipal Citizen Security Secretary, Raúl Tassinari, and the Director of the Tourist Police, Osiris Ceballos. Together, they conducted a tour to review the measures in place. The primary objective of these measures is to create a safe environment for locals and tourists alike.
“Fifth Avenue has been a popular spot for thousands of tourists during the holiday season. We are committed to ensuring their safety and peace of mind so they can fully enjoy what our beautiful destination has to offer,” said Mayor Mercado.
She further elaborated that the Citizen Security Secretariat has been working closely with various police departments. The Preventive, Tourist, GEAVIG, Traffic and Road, and Social Proximity police have all been involved in operations named Hierro, Centinela, Orion, Neighborhoods and Image. These operations are aimed at preventing crime, providing immediate response, caring for families, and addressing traffic regulation violations.
