Puerto Aventuras, Mexico — A fire broke out in two warehouses at the Hard Rock Hotel during the early hours of Thursday morning, prompting a significant mobilization of emergency response teams. The incident occurred at kilometer 272 of the federal highway connecting Puerto Aventuras and Playa del Carmen.
The fire was reported at approximately 2:50 a.m. According to initial reports, the blaze originated in a storage facility measuring approximately 5 by 5 meters, which was used to store solvents, paints, and other flammable materials. Upon arrival, personnel from the Fire Department found this warehouse completely engulfed in flames.
Subsequently, a second fire was detected in a contiguous warehouse designated for storing electrical equipment such as cables, lamps, and transformers. This second area was also on fire when firefighters arrived, leading them to initiate maneuvers to cut the lines of propagation and prevent further damage.
The firefighting efforts lasted several hours before the fire was completely extinguished. As a precautionary measure, staff located in areas near the incident were evacuated. Paramedics assessed several workers for smoke inhalation, but none required transport to a hospital.
The origin of the fire in the first warehouse has not yet been determined. The estimated cost of the material losses in both storage facilities has also not been released. Civil Protection experts and firefighters are conducting the corresponding investigations to determine the causes of the incident. The affected area remains cordoned off to facilitate the work of evidence collection and damage assessment.
Hotel administration reported that operations continue normally throughout the rest of the facilities, with no reported impact on guests or suspension of services.
