Cancún, Quintana Roo – Insecurity reached the vicinity of an educational center in Cancún’s Supermanzana 66, where two people were injured after being targeted in a direct attack with firearms. The incident occurred last night near José López Portillo Avenue, right in front of the El Parián market area and beside Andrés Quintana Roo elementary school, prompting the deployment of a coordinated operation among various security agencies.
Witnesses to the incident indicated that one of the victims was riding a bicycle when unknown individuals opened fire on them and their companion. After the attack, the assailants took advantage of the darkness in the area to flee before patrols arrived.
Both injured individuals were urgently transported to a hospital to receive specialized medical attention, while security personnel cordoned off the perimeter to allow forensic experts to collect spent shell casings and other evidence from the crime.
During the intervention of emergency units, paramedics from the Rescue and Medical Emergencies Squad (Erum) provided assistance to a woman who was at the site.
Although it was confirmed that she was not targeted by the gunfire and did not have bullet wounds, her health condition required hospital transport due to a crisis stemming from a pre-existing medical condition that was complicated by the impact of the event.
So far, authorities from the State Attorney General’s Office have not reported any arrests in connection with these events.
