Cancún, Quintana Roo — Authorities rescued two Guatemalan women from a bar in Cancún during a raid targeting alleged human trafficking and forced prostitution operations. The State Prosecutor’s Office led the operation after obtaining a judicial warrant to search the establishment on Tulum Avenue.
The intervention followed an investigation by the State Prosecutor’s Office’s Specialized Unit Against Human Trafficking, which gathered evidence to secure the search warrant. National Guard and Benito Juárez Municipal Police officers supported the operation.
During the search, officers found evidence including condom packages, notebooks with notes, and doses of green dry herb. Authorities seized all materials and turned them over to the Prosecutor’s Office for analysis and inclusion in the investigation file.
According to initial investigation lines, the bar manager allegedly forced women working at the establishment to provide sexual services to clients. Each service cost approximately 1,500 pesos, with half going to the establishment.
Authorities also discovered the women engaged in “ficheo” activities, drinking with clients in exchange for approximately 220 pesos per beer. Officials stated these practices occurred under conditions of vulnerability and control, potentially constituting human trafficking for sexual exploitation.
After completing the search, authorities secured the property with official seals to prevent operation while investigations continue. The two women received institutional protection to safeguard their integrity, along with medical attention, legal support, and accompaniment due to their situation.
The Prosecutor’s Office reported the case remains ongoing, with investigations continuing to determine if more victims exist and whether the establishment formed part of a sexual exploitation network in the area.
