Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Police found the bodies of two people with visible signs of violence on a dirt road near Calderitas on Tuesday morning, prompting a large-scale security response in the area.
A municipal patrol conducting preventive patrols discovered the bodies dumped beside the road near the intersection of Oaxaca Avenue and 1st Street.
Officers cordoned off the area and notified the relevant authorities to begin an investigation.
Preliminary reports indicate the victims, whose identities have not yet been established, showed clear signs of violence.
The site was secured while forensic experts collected evidence and investigative agents began compiling the case file.
The State Prosecutor’s Office announced that formal investigations are underway, including cross-referencing physical descriptions and clothing with recent reports of missing persons in the southern part of the state.
After forensic work concluded, the bodies were transferred to the Forensic Medical Service for autopsies to determine the exact cause of death.
