Tulum, Quintana Roo — Local business and cultural leaders in Tulum announced they will officially present a new initiative called “Sendero Estelar” this week, a project designed to help the coastal community weather an expected tourism downturn linked to sargassum seaweed.

The project brings together hoteliers, restaurateurs, artists, gallery owners, kitesurfers, artisans, and other tourism and culture stakeholders. Organizers said the goal is to create a joint strategy to mitigate the economic effects of fewer visitors during the upcoming low season, which is anticipated due to large amounts of sargassum washing ashore.

Officials will unveil the project at a press conference scheduled for Thursday, March 5, at 6:00 p.m. at La Eufemia, located in the Hotel Maya Tulum.

According to organizers, “Sendero Estelar” is envisioned as a platform to integrate nature, culture, and responsible development. The initiative aims to strengthen the local economy and bolster Tulum’s position within the international profile of the Riviera Maya.

The press conference will outline the project’s vision, scope, expected impact, implementation details, and the roles of the various sectors involved.
