Tulum, Quintana Roo — Municipal authorities announced traffic modifications that will take effect immediately and remain in place through March 1 as Carnival festivities begin, aiming to prevent congestion and ensure safety during events.
Traffic Director Jessica and the municipal secretary detailed that the main adjustments will apply to roads near the area where activities will take place.
According to the information provided, drivers entering from Felipe Carrillo Puerto toward the center should use Kukulkán Avenue as an alternate route, continue on Okot, and descend onto Cobá Avenue before rejoining Tulum Avenue. Those continuing toward the downtown area will be diverted via Acuario Street.
To distribute vehicle flow, private cars will be directed via Polar Street, while vans, taxis, and public transportation units must descend via 2nd Street. These measures seek to streamline mobility and avoid bottlenecks at strategic points in the municipality.
Authorities indicated that closures will begin immediately, starting with restrictions on Acuario Street, and will remain continuous until scheduled Carnival activities conclude each day. The operation will cover the entire festival period.
The municipal secretary explained that officials have coordinated with various departments, including Health, Civil Protection, Public Security, and Traffic, to ensure attendees can enjoy events under proper conditions of order and prevention.
Regarding the day’s schedule, officials announced that amusement rides will begin operations with a free hour from 5 to 6 p.m. for children, with possible extensions depending on attendance. Carnival activities, including the parade, will follow starting around 5 or 6 p.m.
Authorities urged residents to plan their trips in advance, follow traffic personnel instructions, and maintain understanding of the temporary adjustments, noting that the measures aim to benefit the public and allow for orderly celebration development.
