Tropical Wave 20 Brings Cloudy Skies and Thunderstorms to Quintana Roo

Quintana Roo, Mexico — Tropical Wave 20 is approaching the Yucatan Peninsula, bringing increased cloud cover, isolated showers, and thunderstorms to Quintana Roo on Tuesday, according to the state’s Civil Protection Coordination (Coeproc).

Moisture from the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico will fuel partly cloudy skies that will become more overcast throughout the day, with rain intervals and isolated downpours accompanied by electrical activity. Accumulations of 5 to 25 millimeters are expected.

Despite the cloud cover, temperatures will remain hot to very hot, with highs ranging from 32°C to 39°C depending on the municipality. Winds will gust between 40 and 60 km/h, especially along coastal areas, generating waves of 1.0 to 2.0 meters.
