Man arrested with drugs in Cancún’s Paseos del Mar neighborhood

Police operation in Paseos del Mar neighborhood of Cancún

Cancún, Mexico — Elements of the Investigation Group of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), in coordination with personnel from the Secretariat of the Navy, arrested a man identified as Toni “N” for his alleged involvement in crimes against health in the Paseos del Mar subdivision, in the municipality of Benito Juárez, Cancún.

According to the official report, agents were conducting surveillance duties when they detected a male who was handling several transparent plastic bags. Upon observing their contents, the uniformed officers noticed that inside there was green vegetable matter with characteristics similar to marijuana, so they proceeded to conduct a preventive inspection.

The events occurred on Mauricio Street, corner with the second private street Isla Mauricio, between the sixth and seventh private street Isla Mauricio, in superblock 251, block 94, of the Paseos del Mar subdivision. The intervention was carried out without any major incidents being recorded.

During the inspection, authorities secured a backpack that contained various illicit substances. Among the seized items were counted 31 ziploc-type bags with dry herb with characteristics similar to marijuana, 15 transparent bags with crystalline fragments, allegedly crystal meth, and 11 plastic bags with solid fragments with characteristics similar to the drug known as crack.

After securing the alleged drugs, Toni “N” was detained and placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, who will be in charge of compiling the corresponding investigation file and determining his legal situation in accordance with the law.
