Mérida, Yucatán — The Tizimín Children's and Youth Symphonic Band will perform a free concert titled "Back to the Classics" at the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
A Musical Journey from Baroque to Romantic
The recital, part of the Paaxil Kuxtal: Music for Life program, will feature more than 50 children and teenagers. It will take place on March 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Tizimín, under the direction of Maestro Jesús Castañeda.
The band is the first ensemble of its kind formed during the current state administration, established through an agreement between the Ministry of Culture and the Arts (Sedeculta) and the Tizimín City Council. The Paaxil Kuxtal program aims to decentralize artistic training across the state.
Program Goals and Community Impact
Beyond musical education, the program fosters the learning of social skills that strengthen coexistence, discipline, and teamwork. It provides tools that favor the integral development of the participating children and adolescents.
The "Back to the Classics" concert will offer a sonic journey from the Baroque to the Romantic period, featuring representative pieces that illustrate the evolution of orchestral music over time. Maestro Jesús Castañeda, who has led the group's training since 2025, will conduct the performance.
The Paaxil Kuxtal: Music for Life program is part of the broader Allies for Life initiative under the Government of the Mayan Renaissance. This strategy promotes activities that contribute to building a culture of education for peace.
