Three Suspects Arrested with Drugs and Weapons in Cancún Area Operation

Police operation in Cancún area showing seized drugs and firearms

Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Authorities announced the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of drugs and firearms during a coordinated security operation in the Benito Juárez municipality near Cancún.

State and federal officials reported the arrests during a security meeting in Chetumal. The operation targeted an area known as Bahía Real, close to Villas Otoch and Region 247.

State Prosecutor Raciel López Salazar said the arrests resulted from a joint effort between federal forces and local police. Authorities detained two men and one woman, identified by their aliases as Valdemar “N” (known as “El Barbas”), Katia Lizbeth “N” (“La Katy”), and José Guillermo “N” (“El Jr”).

Officers seized substances resembling marijuana and crystal meth, along with two firearms: a long gun caliber 5.56 mm and a short gun caliber .45 mm. They also confiscated a magazine with 17 rounds and a motorcycle.

Initial investigations suggest the suspects may be members of a criminal group operating in the area, potentially involved in drug trafficking, extortion, and other illegal activities. Authorities are also examining possible links to other cases in Cancún.

The detainees and seized items have been turned over to the State Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine their legal status according to established procedures.
