Amozoc, Puebla — A trailer transporting classic Ford cars was hijacked on the Puebla-Orizaba highway Friday afternoon, with thieves making off with the valuable vintage vehicles after briefly detaining the driver.
The incident occurred near the municipality of Amozoc as the trailer was returning from the 7th National Ford Model A Meet in Cancun, Quintana Roo. According to initial reports, the “madrina”-type trailer was carrying between seven and ten Ford Model A vehicles—antique cars considered collectibles—when a group of criminals intercepted it on the highway.
During the robbery, the driver was held against his will but was later found alive and unharmed. As of Saturday morning, authorities had not located either the trailer or the stolen cars.
Following the theft, members of the classic car collector community spread word of the incident on social media starting in the early morning hours, seeking public help to locate the vehicles. Their messages alerted people to the possible circulation of the distinctive automobiles and asked for any information to be reported.
Municipal and state security authorities continue searching for the trailer and cars but have reported no progress in locating them.
This incident adds to other crimes reported on state highways, particularly along the Puebla-Veracruz expressway, where motorists have called for increased patrols to combat robberies and assaults.
