Tragic Teen Death in Cancun Police Chase on Nichupté Avenue

A police chase led to a tragic accident on Nichupté Avenue, Cancun, in the early hours of Sunday, November 3rd. The incident, which resulted in the death of a minor and left another person injured, took place around 1 am.

Local law enforcement officers were pursuing a motorcyclist and his passenger along Nichupté Avenue, towards José López Portillo Avenue. Eyewitnesses reported that the police fired shots, causing the motorcyclist to swerve into oncoming traffic.

Near Itzales Street, close to the Villas del Caribe neighborhood, the motorcyclist collided with another vehicle. The impact threw his passenger several meters away.

Paramedics from the Red Cross arrived at the scene and found the motorcyclist's passenger, estimated to be around 17 years old, dead. The motorcyclist, who claimed to be 15 years old, was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The vehicles involved in the accident were towed away. The motorcyclist was handed over to the relevant authorities, while the deceased passenger was taken to the forensic medical service for identification and determination of the cause of death.
