A teenager was rescued and a suspect was apprehended following a call to the police by a bank manager in Playa del Carmen. The manager alerted authorities after a bank customer sought assistance.

The customer had been escorted to the bank by a man and two women, one of whom was a minor. They had coerced him into withdrawing $10,000 in cash. Upon arrival, the police managed to rescue the teenager and arrest the man.

The State Attorney General's Office (FGE) clarified in a statement that the man, identified as "Abimael N", was taken into custody by Investigative Police officers for attempting to sell sexual services involving the underage girl.

The arrest was prompted by a report made to the emergency services by the bank manager, after the customer sought help. The customer had allegedly arranged for a sexual service via a website and was directed to a hotel on 12th Street and 15th Avenue. Upon attempting to pay, he was informed that only cash payments were accepted.

"Abimael N", along with two women, one adult and one teenager, then demanded a payment of 10,000 pesos from the customer for wasting their time, leading them to the bank. This is when the bank manager decided to alert the police.

Reports suggest that the teenager is originally from Tabasco and that "Abimael N" had sent her money to relocate to Playa del Carmen. Once there, he established a profile for her on a website to sell her services, while keeping her isolated from her family.
