Cancún, Mexico — An inter-institutional operation led to the capture of José Juan “N”, the alleged perpetrator behind the disappearance and homicide of Darío Ramírez, the young son of academics from the University of Guadalajara (UdeG). The arrest occurred on the afternoon of August 20 at the Cancún International Airport, as the suspect was disembarking from a flight originating in Colombia.

According to the Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office, the investigation resulted in an arrest warrant for the crimes of aggravated homicide and forced disappearance. State and federal authorities, including the National Guard (GN) and the Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR), participated in the operation to apprehend the accused.

The investigation indicates that the events occurred on July 19, when Darío Ramírez and two men, including the detainee, were at a residence in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area. Following an argument, José Juan “N” allegedly shot the young man, causing his death. Subsequently, with the help of an accomplice, he is believed to have transported the body and abandoned it in the municipality of El Salto.

Darío's family reported him missing, and days later, on July 27, his body was located. This evidence strengthened the case, leading to the judicial order that was executed in Cancún.
