Tulum, Mexico — Agents from the Tulum Secretariat of Public Security and Citizen Protection, in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office and elements of the National Defense Secretariat, have detained Nicolás “N,” a 29-year-old man, for the crime of disobedience and resistance of private citizens. Although the detention was confirmed only for this offense, unofficially he is being linked as the alleged driver involved in the tragic accident that claimed the life of a young woman from Tulum, who was recently run over on Federal Highway 307, near Casa Tortuga.

According to information obtained outside the official report, Nicolás “N” would be the person driving the vehicle indicated in the fatal incident that shocked the municipality. The young woman died after being struck while traveling through the area, a highway stretch where the lack of pedestrian crossings, high speed, and intense traffic have generated various risk warnings from local residents and merchants.

The detention occurred during surveillance patrols implemented at various points in the municipality. When ordered to stop, Nicolás “N” failed to comply with instructions and allegedly showed resistance, which led to his apprehension. He was subsequently transferred and made available to the State Attorney General’s Office, which will determine his legal status in the coming hours.

Although authorities have not yet publicly confirmed his connection to the fatal hit-and-run, information obtained by this outlet indicates that investigations already include data that would directly link him to the incident. The young woman’s family and Tulum residents have demanded that the case be clarified and that the responsible party face the corresponding legal consequences.

The accident that occurred in front of Casa Tortuga has reignited discussion about road safety on Federal Highway 307, where multiple serious incidents have been recorded in recent months. Neighbors insist that the combination of construction work, tourist traffic, and lack of vehicle control keeps the area in conditions of permanent risk.

The Attorney General’s Office will continue with the inquiries to determine whether Nicolás “N” is indeed responsible for the hit-and-run that ended the life of the young woman from Tulum, a case that has generated outrage and demands for justice in the community.
