Cancún – The State Prosecutor’s Office reported the flagrant detention of a man identified as Fernando N, who is accused of probable involvement in crimes against health, specifically drug trafficking, and extortion in the municipality of Puerto Morelos.
The detention of Fernando N occurred at the intersection of Niños Héroes and Plutarco Elías Calles streets, where authorities conducted an inspection and secured various doses of green and dry herb with characteristics similar to marijuana, in addition to a granular substance with the properties of the narcotic known as methamphetamine.
According to initial investigations by the Prosecutor’s Office, the detainee is identified as an active member of a criminal gang that generates violence in the region.
His functions within the organization allegedly consisted of distributing narcotics in the maritime area of Puerto Morelos and extorting merchants, whom he forced to make payments under the concept of “protection money.”
After completing the legal procedures, Fernando N was placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office along with the secured evidence, and it is expected that his legal situation will be determined within the established constitutional term.
