Cancún, Quintana Roo — As part of Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama’s initiatives, including the Shared Prosperity Market, four mayors met with Soriana CEO Ricardo Martín Bringas on Sunday to establish a commitment for rural areas of the state to become direct suppliers for the retail chain.
Tulum Mayor Diego Castañón announced on social media that he, alongside Puerto Morelos Mayor Blanca Merari, José María Morelos Mayor Erik Borges, and Bacalar Mayor José Alfredo Contreras, held discussions with the executive of one of Mexico’s largest supermarket chains.
“We’ve been signing agreements to improve the quality of life in rural areas and ensure they become direct suppliers for a major, major store—a major, major supermarket like Soriana, represented by its president, Ricardo,” Castañón explained.
“We exchanged ideas, made commitments, and above all, we want to deliver results for the people in rural areas. Thank you, Ricardo, for this opportunity and for the chance you’re giving to these communities,” he added.
Martín Bringas expressed gratitude for the invitation to actively participate in Quintana Roo’s economic sector and reaffirmed Soriana’s commitment to supporting local suppliers at both state and national levels.
“We want to support many product categories produced in Quintana Roo, and we’re very interested in accelerating progress—I say ‘accelerate’ because we’re already purchasing products from the state,” the Soriana CEO stated.
“You can count on us—not just our interest, but our commitment,” he assured, adding that company representatives would soon visit the state.
Martín Bringas also noted that discussions included coordinated investment projects between Soriana and the municipalities.
Tulum’s mayor emphasized that this initiative aligns with Governor Lezama’s efforts to help local producers place their products in markets and strengthen municipal economies through investment projects.
The meeting underscores ongoing efforts to boost economic opportunities for rural communities in Quintana Roo through partnerships with major retailers.
