Chetumal, Mexico – Showers with localized heavy rainfall (25 to 50 mm) and maximum temperatures of 28 to 33 degrees Celsius are forecast for Quintana Roo, announced the National Meteorological Service (SMN).
The agency adds that for the Yucatan Peninsula, the forecast calls for cloudy skies with very heavy localized rains in Campeche and heavy rains in Quintana Roo. These could cause local flooding, waterlogging, and reduced visibility. Showers are expected in Yucatan.
Conditions will be mild in the morning and warm during the afternoon. A “Norte” wind event with speeds of 20 to 30 km/h and gusts of 40 to 60 km/h is expected in Campeche, Yucatan, and northern Quintana Roo, along with wave heights of 1.5 to 2.5 meters off the coasts of Campeche and Yucatan.
Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation in the middle and upper levels of the atmosphere, combined with the subtropical jet stream, will generate the second winter storm of the season over northwestern Mexico.
Finally, the influx of moisture from the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico will cause isolated rains in states in the west and south of the country. (Agencia SIM)
