Cancún, Quintana Roo — Seven people have been formally charged with drug trafficking offenses in Cancún following separate police operations, the State Prosecutor’s Office announced.
The suspects were brought before judges in Benito Juárez municipality, where prosecutors presented evidence leading to formal charges for various drug-related crimes.
Municipal police officers made the initial arrests before the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Drug Trafficking took over the cases.
Among those charged is Dulce Virginia “N,” accused of supplying marijuana. Vicente “N” and Luis Miguel “N” face charges for possession of the same drug.
In a separate hearing, Ricardo Miguel “N” was charged with marijuana supply, while Hugo “N” faces simple possession charges. The judge ordered both held in preventive detention as a precautionary measure.
Jairo “N” was also ordered held in preventive detention during judicial proceedings for alleged supply of cannabis and cocaine.
Elizabeth “N” was charged with possession of these substances in the same hearing.
The State Prosecutor’s Office stated it will continue strengthening actions against drug trafficking in Cancún and Benito Juárez municipality.
