“Sargassum Surge Hits Cozumel: Shocking Findings Revealed!”

Cozumel, a city in Quintana Roo, is experiencing an increase in sargassum stranding on its eastern side. Despite the limited staff, they have managed to collect up to three and a half tons of sargassum. The collected sargassum is then transported to the southern part of the island, as stated by Milton Zavala Aradillas, the director of the federal maritime and terrestrial zone (Zofemat).

However, Zavala Aradillas also mentioned that there is a lack of interest in sargassum collection jobs. Despite the open call for staff recruitment, they have found it challenging to find people willing to work in this area.
