Missing woman’s remains identified in Cancún case

Cancún, Quintana Roo — The remains of Guadalupe del Pilar López Ortiz, who was reported missing in Cancún, Quintana Roo on September 27 of this year, have been identified. Her missing person file has been deactivated as a result.

The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office announced the development through social media, stating: “The #FGEQuintanaRoo deactivates missing person files for Isaí Eduardo Poot Salas, Esteban Elías Poot Salas, Gael Antonio Cú Martínez and Guadalupe del Pilar López Ortiz, who have been located. We appreciate your collaboration.”

López Ortiz was a 25-year-old Mexican woman with fair skin, slim build, black hair dyed red, light brown eyes, standing 1.55 meters tall and weighing 50 kilograms. She had several distinctive tattoos including an image of three children on her right collarbone, a rose on her right bicep, butterflies on her right forearm, the letters “K” and “G,” a feather on her left forearm, and more butterflies on her left ankle. Authorities had not reported what she was wearing when last seen.

OTHER MISSING PERSON CASES IN QUINTANA ROO

Other missing person files in Quintana Roo have also been deactivated, including cases where individuals were found deceased and others found safe.

One notable case involves 17-year-old Gael Antonio Cú Martínez, who was last seen on November 29 in Cancún, Quintana Roo. His missing person file has now been deactivated.

The teenager was described as having light brown skin, slim build, straight black short hair, dark brown eyes, standing 1.63 meters tall and weighing approximately 60 kilograms. He had no reported distinguishing marks but was last seen wearing a beige shirt with a sweatshirt underneath, black pants, and black sneakers.

His remains were identified after a body was found early Tuesday morning in Supermanzana 260, on Avenida 20 de Noviembre, between Arco Vial and the Real Valencia subdivision. An anonymous 911 call had alerted authorities to several bags placed alongside the road.

Cú Martínez worked at a pizzeria in Ciudad Natura and was last seen Saturday night when he left work with friends. His family had been unable to contact him since then.

The body showed bruises in different areas, marks on the extremities, and a neck injury from asphyxiation. This marks the second case of a minor found dead in recent days in Cancún, Quintana Roo.
