Tourism Registry Grows 30%, Aids World Cup Travel Planning

Cozumel tourism officials discussing RETURQ registry

Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The State Tourism Registry (RETURQ) will serve as a fundamental tool to provide reliable and updated information to visitors at each destination in the state, according to Quintana Roo Tourism Secretary Bernardo Cueto Riestra, who noted its utility will be even greater during the 2026 Soccer World Cup, considering the air connectivity with the 16 host cities and plans to attract more tourists during this sporting celebration.

The official highlighted that RETURQ has registered 30 percent growth compared to 2024, reaching more than 3,000 registrations, an advance that reflects greater organization of tourism activity, since it is the service providers themselves who contribute their data, which provides certainty and confidence to visitors. “This service becomes another tool for tourism, as it allows travelers to have access to verified and updated information,” he stated.

“We are expecting the Mexican Caribbean to be the entry point for many fans who will be visiting Mexico, but also the United States and Canada,” the official affirmed in relation to the World Cup, and emphasized that Cozumel is part of the tourism offering of the Mexican Caribbean and the connectivity with the United States.

Currently, Quintana Roo has the only airport connected to all 16 host cities of the tournament, which represents a strategic advantage for the state, which is why he assured that many fans will take advantage of days without matches to visit Quintana Roo destinations, including Cozumel, where RETURQ will be an essential tool to guide and facilitate tourists’ experience.

In this way, SEDETUR trusts that RETURQ will become a key ally to strengthen the competitiveness of the Mexican Caribbean and ensure that visitors find in the state not only connectivity, but also certainty and quality in tourism services.
