Quintana Roo, Mexico — The Secretary of Tourism of Quintana Roo is coordinating actions to regulate mobility at airports following a judicial ruling in favor of Uber. In a context where Uber has obtained a definitive suspension that allows it to operate in national airports, the authorities of Quintana Roo have expressed a stance of prudence and respect for the legal framework.

The state authority prioritizes the safety and experiences of tourists following the definitive suspension granted to Uber in airport facilities.

The Secretary of Tourism of the state highlighted that its primary interest is to guarantee that the mobility of visitors is safe, comfortable, and reliable, without affecting the tourist experience from their arrival.

The head of the department, Bernardo Cueto Riestra, stated that safety and quality of service are fundamental aspects. He acknowledged that airports operate under federal concessions and that in this sense, it will be necessary to define the conditions for digital platforms, like Uber, to integrate into those facilities without contravening existing regulations.

To this end, the authorities will work in coordination with the airports and the Instituto de Movilidad de Quintana Roo (Imoveqroo), with the intention of maintaining a balance between adapting to judicial decisions and protecting the tourist experience.
