X-Pichil, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama led the delivery of equipment to artisans in the community of X-Pichil, aiming to strengthen the Maya region’s craft traditions and improve working conditions in community workshops.
Lezama announced the initiative on social media, stating, “To strengthen the work of Maya zone artisans and open more opportunities for marketing their creations, we delivered equipment, tools, and training to five cooperatives in X-Pichil as part of the Artesanas del Bienestar program.”
Supporting Local Talent and Economy
During her visit, the governor emphasized that supporting local talent is key to preserving the cultural identity of communities and generating economic opportunities for families who depend on this activity.
The support was handed over to five cooperative societies comprising 40 artisans, who now have tools to improve the production and marketing of their pieces. The delivery was made through the Artesanas del Bienestar Category II: Transforming Art program, with an investment of nearly 1.2 million pesos.
The equipment delivered includes:
- Work tables
- Sewing machines
- Steam irons
- Mannequins
- Display cases
Training and Community Development
The program also includes training, work kits, and specialized tools to strengthen the quality of crafts produced in the Maya zone. Governor Lezama highlighted that the work of artisans represents a pillar for the local economy and the preservation of Maya traditions.
