Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama has reassured residents that security in the state remains stable despite nationwide violence following the death of a major cartel leader, while urging the public to avoid misinformation circulating on social media.
The governor used her official channels to address security concerns after false information spread online, causing panic among citizens. She provided details about the actual situation in the state.
Following violent incidents in Talpa, Jalisco, that led to the detention and subsequent death of “El Mencho,” leader of the CJNG cartel, several Mexican states have experienced criminal activity. This prompted the Quintana Roo government to deploy more than 10,000 federal, state, and municipal security personnel to maintain control.
What Is the Security Situation in Quintana Roo?
Governor Lezama reported that, in response to false versions circulating on social media, the government is working in coordination with the Mexican Army, National Guard, Mexican Navy, State Prosecutor’s Office, and the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office to clarify all information.
The governor confirmed that the state’s four international airports are operating normally, with no flight cancellations reported so far. Similarly, ADO bus services, the Maya Train, and public transportation are functioning as usual.
“Quintanarroenses: With clarity we inform you of the real situation in our state: order and stability are maintained in Quintana Roo, despite recent events in the country and information circulating on social media. We work in full coordination with the forces…” Lezama posted on social media.
School activities within the state continue regularly, with the governor noting there are no class suspensions at any educational level. Additionally, she emphasized that no injured citizens have been reported in the state.
Governor Urges Public to Avoid Rumors
After explaining the security situation in Quintana Roo, the governor urged residents to avoid rumors and false information circulating on social media. She asked people to get information only through official channels.
The governor acknowledged the work of the Armed Forces and Security Cabinet, and reiterated collaboration with the national strategy led by President Claudia Sheinbaum.
