Cancún, Quintana Roo — The state government has provided more than 90,000 specialized services to people with disabilities as part of actions aimed at supporting one of the most vulnerable sectors of the population.
Verónica Lezama Espinosa, honorary president of the Sistema DIF Quintana Roo, emphasized that these efforts have generated significant advances in the care and well-being of beneficiaries.
At the Centro de Rehabilitación Integral de Quintana Roo (CRIQ), 5,890 people have been served, who together have received more than 80,000 services.
Meanwhile, the Centros de Rehabilitación Integral Municipales (CRIM), also operated by the state DIF, have extended their support to more than 10,390 residents.
The work of the CRIM has directly impacted more than 1,800 people in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, nearly 1,000 in José María Morelos, and another 1,700 in Cozumel.
Among the services offered by the CRIQ are speech therapy, occupational and physical therapies, as well as hyperbaric medicine.
Services in social work, psychology, neuropsychology, and psychopedagogy are also provided.
The care encompasses not only those living with motor disabilities, which affect movement and limit daily activities, but also people with neurodivergent conditions, such as Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Additionally, the two Autism Care Centers located in Chetumal and Cancún have offered support to nearly 350 people, along with comprehensive accompaniment for their families.
These spaces, together with the CRIM, the CRIQ, and the three inclusive parks of the state DIF—two in Chetumal and one in Cozumel—have recently been rehabilitated and equipped.
Lezama Espinosa added that these actions have involved a significant investment aimed at guaranteeing accessible and quality facilities for people with disabilities.
“We are promoting policies and programs that had never been implemented before. For years there was total abandonment in disability matters. Today we seek to be a more supportive and inclusive state,” she stated.
