PUERTO MORELOS, Quintana Roo — The municipal government of Puerto Morelos has taken a significant step toward strengthening local security infrastructure after its Town Council unanimously approved the donation of two plots of land to state-level agencies.
The approvals were granted during the municipality's Thirtieth Ordinary Council Session. The donated land is designated for the construction of permanent facilities for the Quintana Roo State Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) and the State Attorney General's Office (FGE).
Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz characterized the move as a major advancement in building peace and security for the municipality. She expressed gratitude to the council members for their unanimous support of the agreements, which will enable both state agencies to move forward with long-planned projects to establish their own installations within Puerto Morelos.
"In the framework of the Thirtieth Ordinary Council Session, Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz emphasized the importance of transferring these spaces to strengthen security and the construction of peace," a statement from the session noted.
The mayor also thanked State Citizen Security Secretary, Rear Admiral Julio Cesar Gómez Torres, and State Attorney General, Raciel López Salazar, for their support and willingness to execute these strategic infrastructure projects. She stated that this collaboration represents a confluence of efforts aimed at constructing peace and tranquility for residents.
The council ratified two key agreements. The first authorizes the declassification of a property from public domain to private domain and its subsequent donation to the Government of the State of Quintana Roo. This land, identified as Lot 1-13 in Block 150 of Superblock 17, is intended for the construction of a dedicated SSC headquarters for the municipality.
The second agreement approves the declassification and donation of a separate property to the State Attorney General's Office. This lot, identified as Lot 1-12 in Block 150 of Superblock 17, is intended to help the agency provide effective, efficient, and lawful administration of justice for the people of Puerto Morelos.
Both agreements stipulate that construction on the properties must commence before December 2026. Furthermore, the designated purpose for the donated land cannot be altered from the projects outlined in the agreements.
Concluding the announcement, Mayor Tziu Muñoz reiterated that this action represents significant progress toward a continued effort to work for the security and a prosperous future for Puerto Morelos.
